Wellness

The Land of Wellness, Norway

Are you looking for a travel destination for rest and healing? Pack your bags for Norway, a country that has preserved its stunning natural beauty.

After two years of the pandemic, the desire to be in nature has become stronger than ever. More people are traveling to remote areas largely untouched by humans. Northern Europe is recognized to be one of the most uncontaminated places on the planet. And Norway is one of the top recommended travel destinations post-COVID. It is a quarantine-free country with no PCR test or vaccination required for travel. Enjoy the deep green surroundings and take time to heal your body and mind in Norway. Here are the top three must-see places in Norway, recommended by Barneys New York Beauty.

Fjord Trekking

Visiting the famous fjords and going on a fjord trekking trip is recommended for those who want to fully experience vast and peaceful nature. Fjords are a topography found in Northern Europe, especially in Norway. Fjords refer to long and narrow inlets created by glaciation, and are usually surrounded by steep sides or cliffs, often set in a U-shaped valley.

Of the three major fjords, Sognefjorden, Hardangerfjorden, and Lysefjorden, Sognefjorden is the longest fjord in the world with a length of 204 km. The ocean, which is surrounded by forests and valleys, is known for its clear water. This is because U-shaped fjords act as a natural filter. For those who want to see the city and fjords at the same time, Bergen, the former capital of Norway, is a good destination.

The city has many attractions as the 15 km long Byfjorden lies within the city. June to September, when the snow melts and the weather gets warmer, is the best time for trekking, so keep this in mind before making travel plans. For more information on fjord trekking, visit www.fjordnorway.com.

Trolltunga

Trolltunga, which name translates to “Troll Tongue” in Norwegian, is a tongue-shaped cliff located in Hardangerfjorden, in southwestern Norway. It is one of the world’s most scenic cliffs as it overlooks Ringedalsvatnet Lake from 1,100 m above sea level. It is a difficult trekking course, even for experts, as the round-trip course is 22 km, and the path to the top is a continuation of wide green fields and endless forests. However, it is one of Norway's top three trekking spots because the scenery is beyond beautiful.

Juvet Landscape

The Juvet Landscape Hotel is located in Valldal, Norway. Listed as a must-visit destination, it is known for its beautiful scenery and modern facilities. As the hotel is situated in the middle of the forest, staying here brings you as close to nature as possible. The minimal and modern buildings are unrealistically harmonized with the surrounding nature. The movie, Ex-Machina, was also filmed here.

There are a total of nine rooms, including the Landscape Room, which has glass walls, making it feel as if the forest is right in your room. The Bird Houses are built like traditional Norwegian cabins. And the suite-style Writer’s Lodge includes two spacious bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. If you want to take a break and relax without any worries, make a reservation now.
